Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department continued its Citizen’s Police Academy with its second week of training, focusing on patrol and traffic operations.
During the session, participants learned about 911 communications and received an inside look at the daily work of Fort Smith police officers.
The academy also included a “day in the life” presentation, where participants learned more about an officer’s duties and the gear used while on patrol.
Participants were also introduced to police vehicles, motorcycles and bicycles used by the department.
The Fort Smith Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association described the second week as an informative night, giving participants an opportunity to learn more about several areas of police operations and how officers serve the community.
