Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department has announced a series of street closures throughout the city as infrastructure improvements are underway. These closures, effective immediately and scheduled to continue through July 2025, are aimed at facilitating essential storm drain upgrades, sewer main replacements, and traffic signal pole installations.
According to the department, the following locations will be affected:
* South 28th Street from Zero Street to McKinnley Avenue: Closed all day through July 27, 2025, for storm drain improvements.
* Jacobs Avenue between Ferguson and Highway 271: Closed 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., now through July 3, 2025, for sewer main replacement.
* 26th Street between Osage and Phoenix: Closed 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., now through July 3, 2025, for sewer main replacement.
* Osage Street from South 24th to 26th and South 25th from Osage to Phoenix: Closed 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., through July 9, 2025, for sewer main replacement.
* Uma Street from South 28th to South 30th: Closed all day through July 9, 2025, for sewer line and manhole installation.
* Dallas Street and Massard Road: Closed all day through July 22, 2025, for traffic signal pole replacement.
* North 47th Street between J and L Streets: Closed all day through July 15, 2025, for sewer main replacement.
