Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department recognized the retirement of Captain Robert Schibbelhut, honoring his more than two decades of service to the department and the community.
In a message shared by the department, officials thanked Schibbelhut for his dedication throughout his career, highlighting the lasting impact he made on fellow officers and the residents he served.
During his time with the department, Schibbelhut served in several key divisions, including Patrol, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), and Administration. According to the department, his faith and values were reflected in his approach to law enforcement and in the relationships he built with colleagues and members of the community.
The department said Schibbelhut took pride in encouraging those around him, describing him as someone who consistently offered support to co-workers, colleagues, and everyone he encountered while serving as a police officer.
As he concluded his law enforcement career, the Fort Smith Police Department expressed gratitude not only to Schibbelhut but also to his family for the sacrifices they made throughout his years of service.
While noting that he will be missed, the department wished him the very best as he begins the next chapter of his life after more than 20 years in law enforcement.
