Fort Smith, Ark. – On Sunday, Aug. 31, several locations around Fort Smith lit up purple in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day.
The annual event brings together a global community to take action on overdose, which remains one of the world’s most serious public health crises.
This year’s theme was “One big family, driven by hope.” Organizers emphasized that every story shared, every voice raised, and every step taken helps move closer to a future free from overdose.
Mercy Hospital Fort Smith, ArcBest, Arkansas Colleges of Health Education, the U.S. Marshals Museum, Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs, and the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith participated in the tribute, joining communities worldwide in remembrance and awareness.
