Fort Smith firefighters complete advanced rope rescue training in summer heat

Fort Smith, Ark. – After two weeks of intensive training under challenging summer conditions, a new group of Fort Smith Fire Department personnel has been officially certified as Rope Rescue Technicians.

The specialized training equips firefighters with the technical skills required to safely and efficiently conduct rope-based rescues in a variety of high-risk scenarios, including elevated structures, steep terrain, and confined spaces.

Officials say the certification ensures that team members are prepared to respond effectively when traditional access is not possible, enhancing the department’s overall rescue capabilities.

The Fort Smith Fire Department commended the firefighters for their dedication and commitment to public safety, especially while completing the demanding course in high summer temperatures.
