Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Fire Department celebrated its latest achievements this month with a ceremony to welcome new firefighters, recognize recent promotions, and honor outstanding staff members.
Seventeen new members were officially welcomed into the FSFD family: Trey Knight, Mason Barcheers, Kaleb Hamby, Luke Voelkel, Christian Scott, Zeke Sharp, Luke Ward, Ryan Sides, Kale Barcheers, Tanner Myers, Justin Crider, Rileigh Hattaway, Josiah Davis, Justin Shaver, and Brandon Shelton.
The department also announced several key promotions within its ranks:
– Ben Noel was promoted to Battalion Chief
– Matt Taylor and Tyler Davis were each promoted to Captain
– Andrew Caudle and Jocob Sims were promoted to Driver
In addition to the promotions, several individuals were recognized for their exceptional service. The Fire Chief’s Coin for Excellence was awarded to Battalion Chief Ryan Rains (not pictured), Captain Josh Edwards, Firefighter Joseph Baker, and Firefighter Zachary Presley.
Joseph Baker received further distinction as **Firefighter of the Year**, while **Captain Joshua Christensen** was named **Company Officer of the Year**. **Angellica Garrett** was honored as **Dispatcher of the Year**.
The ceremony served as both a celebration of growth within the department and a recognition of the dedication and professionalism shown by FSFD personnel.
