Fort Smith, Ark. – As part of Waste and Recycling Appreciation Week, the City of Fort Smith is recognizing the dedicated crews behind its Solid Waste Services.
Leading the weeklong spotlight is a tribute to the Residential Division — the frontline workers responsible for daily trash, recycling, and yard waste collection across the city.
These crews are out in every neighborhood, in every kind of weather, ensuring that carts are emptied, bulky items are removed, and streets remain clean and safe.
Whether it’s a hot summer day or a rainy morning, their work often goes unnoticed — but its impact is felt citywide.
“They’re the ones making sure your carts are emptied, bulky items get hauled off, and neighborhoods stay clean and safe,” the City said in a public statement.
“It’s the kind of work we can easily take for granted, but they’re out there every day, no matter the weather, the route, or what awaits them at the curb.”
City officials praised the division’s commitment to service and emphasized how essential the team is to Fort Smith’s quality of life.
As appreciation events continue throughout the week, each of the five Solid Waste Services divisions will be highlighted in turn. For now, Fort Smith is taking a moment to thank the Residential Division for their tireless work and dedication.
