Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department honored the graduates of Citizen’s Police Academy Class 53 in a ceremony held last night, marking the culmination of several weeks of immersive training and community engagement.
The program, designed to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the public, gave participants an in-depth look into the daily responsibilities and challenges faced by officers.
Topics covered included patrol procedures, criminal investigations, and interactive scenario-based training. Attendees also toured various department facilities and engaged directly with officers from multiple divisions.
“This experience is about transparency, education, and building trust,” a department spokesperson said. “Class 53 showed true dedication — asking important questions, actively participating, and showing a genuine interest in understanding what we do.”
The department extended its gratitude to the graduates, thanking them for their time, enthusiasm, and commitment to fostering stronger community-police relations.
The Citizen’s Police Academy continues to serve as a vital tool in encouraging dialogue and mutual respect between Fort Smith residents and their law enforcement officers.
