Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith joined Community Rescue Mission (CRM) on August 4 to break ground on Miller Cottages, a transitional housing initiative aimed at supporting income-qualified families.
The new development, located at 505 N. 4th Street near CRM’s main campus, will feature three duplex-style cottages, providing safe and affordable housing for six families.
Residents will live independently while participating in CRM’s Empowerment Program, which offers resources and training designed to promote long-term self-sufficiency.
CRM is a faith-based nonprofit that serves homeless families by helping them transition to independence through structured support and services.
City officials noted that the Miller Cottages project has been in development for three years. Construction is expected to take approximately 10 months, with the goal of offering families a stable foundation and brighter future.
Officials congratulated Community Rescue Mission on this major step forward in addressing family homelessness in Fort Smith.
