Fort Smith announces development of Fort Kids Children’s Museum

Fort Smith, Ark. — A bold new vision for play, learning, and community is taking shape in Fort Smith as local leaders and volunteers work together to bring the Fort Kids Children’s Museum to life. Spearheaded by a coalition of passionate residents—including educators, healthcare professionals, and civic partners—the project aims to create an inclusive, hands-on educational space where children of all backgrounds can explore, imagine, and thrive.

Described as a community-driven effort, the museum is intended to serve as both a creative outlet and a developmental resource, offering interactive exhibits and programming designed to spark curiosity and foster connection. The initiative has quickly gained momentum, with support pouring in from across the region.

“Big dreams start with play—and in Fort Smith, we’re building a space where imagination meets impact,” said a statement from the City of Fort Smith. “This project is shaping the future of Fort Smith from the ground up.”

A new video released by the City showcases the people behind the movement and the vision driving it forward. The Fort Kids project represents not just a physical museum, but a broader investment in the city’s youth, community collaboration, and long-term growth.

To learn more or get involved, residents are encouraged to follow updates from the City of Fort Smith and Fort Kids as the project progresses.
