FORT SMITH, Ark – Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Target Area: Crawford; Franklin The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a * Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Southwestern Madison County in northwestern Arkansas Northern Franklin County in west central Arkansas Northeastern Crawford County in northwestern Arkansas * Until 1245 PM CDT. * At 950 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Radar estimates of one to one and a half inches of rain have fallen within the past hour over parts of the advisory area. * Some locations that may experience flooding include Ozark… Mulberry Altus… St. Paul Wiederkehr Village… Cass Saint Paul… Pettigrew Fern… Jethro Bidville… Combs Locke… Turners Bend Lonelm… Dutton Barnes… Redding Watalula… Delaney Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area.
