WASHINGTON — A 14-year-old girl faces multiple charges after authorities say she used a dating app to lure in victims before she and other suspects robbed and assaulted them, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
According to authorities, the teen faces two counts of armed robbery and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.
The three incidents happened in a two week span, starting with January 24 in the 4800 block of North Capitol Street, NE. Officers said the victim and the 14-year-old planned to meet via a dating app at the location. “When the victim arrived, one of the suspects brandished a handgun and the additional suspects took the victim’s property.”
The same set up happened on February 2 in the 1300 block of Peabody Street, NW. Both times, the 14-year-old and the other suspects took off in the victims’ cars.
On Tuesday, a third victim met with the teen in the 4800 block of Fort Totten Drive, NE. When the other suspects jumped out, one of them hit the victim with the gun before they all took off. No property was stolen.
The teenaged girl was then arrested later Tuesday evening.
The incidents are still under investigation. Anyone with information should call the Metropolitan Police Department at (202) 727-9099.
