Creekmore Park tennis court improvements begin in Fort Smith with closures and upgrades planned

Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith has announced the start of improvement work at the Creekmore Park Tennis Courts, with construction scheduled to begin on April 21, 2026.

As the project gets underway, several temporary closures will be in place. The parking lot located west of the courts will be closed for the duration of construction, while the lower, northern four tennis courts will also be unavailable.

City officials noted that additional temporary closures within the tennis center may occur as work progresses.

The project includes a range of upgrades aimed at improving the facility. Plans call for resurfacing the southern four courts and reconstructing the northern four courts using a post-tension concrete base.

Lighting at the courts and nearby pool area will be converted to energy-efficient LED fixtures, and new spectator seating will be added along the east side. The project will also include replacement of fencing around the courts.

City officials said the improvements are designed to enhance the overall experience for residents and visitors using the facility. They also expressed appreciation for the public’s patience during the construction period.

Residents seeking more information are encouraged to contact the city’s administration office.
