Recent efforts have covered a range of completed and ongoing projects, including improvements in the city’s sanitary sewer system.

Future projects outlined in the Capital Improvement Plan are part of the city’s comprehensive strategy to maintain compliance with the Consent Decree’s requirements, which were established to improve the city’s wastewater infrastructure.

Five additional sub-basins are currently under construction, and another thirteen are in the design phase. With an eye on the future, the city is exploring various funding avenues to secure the necessary resources for the completion of these critical infrastructure projects. The goal is to ensure that Fort Smith continues to grow and thrive while remaining compliant with federal regulations and protecting the environment.
