Atkins Haunted House collecting money for educational purposes

Little Rock, Arkansas – Atkins students organized a Haunted House, named Devil’s Den, to celebrate Halloween and raise funds for the city’s youngsters.

The purpose of the Haunted House was to collect funds for their yearly “After Prom”. After the big night, people congregate in a safe environment at the event.

“They come back to the gym at the high school and with the money we raised, we provide food, games, we have money machine set up for them. It keeps them busy all night long and it ends at 4 in the morning, and they love it,” Mother/Organizer, Aryn Rhinehart said.

In just one week, the teenagers finished the haunted house by furnishing rooms, producing costumes, making props, and other tasks.

“We have an electric chair. We have a butchering room. We actually have several chainsaws and um, there’s an autopsy room and then there’s something at the end that crawls out at you. I don’t know quite what it is but it’s pretty scary,” teen volunteer, Drake Rhinehart said.

The After Prom organizer, Aryn, reports that they have already earned more than $3,000 for the charity.

“Everyone that comes out to it says that it’s a 10 out of 10 and it is awesome and it is scary so we are so proud of the kids. It’s only the kids working inside and they are doing an awesome job,” Aryn said.

For an even more thrilling experience, the haunted home has a Haunted Hayride.

Through Halloween, the Devil’s Den will be open every night from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Atkins Rodeo Arena.

Tickets for adults are $10. Children under ten pay $8 to enter.
