ASP: No charges filed in Phillips County shooting after self-defense ruling

Arkansas – On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Arkansas State Police (ASP) announced that no criminal charges will be filed in connection with a July 5 shooting death in Phillips County.

Following an investigation by the ASP Criminal Investigation Division, First Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Todd Murray concluded that Decorick Farr, 41, of Poplar Grove, acted in self-defense in the shooting death of 38-year-old William “Red” Henderson.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, in the 300 block of Phillips County Road 113. Henderson was transported to Helena Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office requested the ASP CID investigation, and the findings were submitted to the prosecuting attorney’s office for review before the decision not to file charges.
