Arkansas woman fatally shot in vehicle, suspect found dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound

Arkansas – An Arkansas woman is dead and the primary suspect in her killing took his own life after a manhunt across Marion and Baxter counties, authorities confirmed.

On Monday, April 21, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers with the Bull Shoals Police Department (BPD) responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Maple Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 48-year-old Anita Suzanne Due inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

Emergency medical personnel transported Due to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, where she later died from her injuries.

The Bull Shoals Police Department requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in the investigation. Early in the inquiry, authorities identified 49-year-old Brooks Dean Due, also of Bull Shoals, as the primary suspect. He was wanted on charges of First-Degree Murder and Violating a Protection Order.

Due was considered armed and dangerous, prompting a coordinated manhunt by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Arkansas State Police, and BPD officers. The search extended into the afternoon, with efforts concentrated in areas of both Marion and Baxter counties.

Authorities located Due’s vehicle just south of Mountain Home. While tracking his location, officials heard gunshots. Shortly afterward, Brooks Due was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No further details have been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
