Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation is set to receive more than $105 million in additional federal funding to support major highway and infrastructure projects across the state.
The funding was secured through Congressionally Directed Spending and Community Project Funding in the Federal Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development appropriation. Members of Arkansas’ congressional delegation worked to obtain the money for six projects aimed at improving safety, connectivity, and economic growth.
The largest portion, $59 million, will fund the next phase of the Springdale Northern Bypass. Other allocations include $15.8 million for future Interstate 49 between Alma and Barling, $11 million for Highway 412 corridor improvements, $7 million for a Highway 82 railroad overpass, $6.734 million for future Interstate 57 from Walnut Ridge to the Missouri state line, and $3 million for the next phase of Highway 112 widening.
State transportation officials said the investments will strengthen major corridors, reduce congestion, and improve access for communities and businesses. ARDOT Director Jared D. Wiley thanked the congressional delegation for its support, noting the funding will help improve connectivity and promote long-term economic development throughout Arkansas.
