Arkansas State Police investigate shooting that left two people injured, arrest a 52-year-old suspect who fled on foot after also being shot during incident

Arkansas – Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a shooting that occurred on May 16, 2026, at Baker Sawmill Company in Corning, Arkansas.

According to officials, the incident took place around 4 p.m. when the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Corning Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the business. Upon arrival, deputies located two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Authorities stated that the suspect fled the scene on foot but was apprehended nearby approximately 30 minutes later. The suspect was also found to have sustained a gunshot wound during the incident.

The injured victims were transported to local hospitals before being transferred to medical facilities in Little Rock and Memphis for further treatment.

Officials confirmed that, at the request of local law enforcement agencies, Arkansas State Police Special Agents have taken over the investigation.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old William K. Donald of Corning, was later booked into the Clay County Detention Center on two felony counts of first-degree battery after receiving medical treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing.
