Arkansas state offices to close Monday amid winter storm

Arkansas – Arkansas state office buildings will be closed Monday, January 26, 2026, due to hazardous road conditions caused by an ongoing winter storm, according to an announcement from Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The closure applies to state offices across Arkansas, with exceptions made only for critical operations. State officials said the decision was made to protect employee safety as winter weather continues to impact travel conditions statewide.

Employees who are able to telework are expected to do so, while agencies have been authorized to implement liberal leave policies for staff members whose job duties cannot be performed remotely. Officials emphasized that flexibility will be provided to accommodate employees affected by the severe weather.

The governor’s office said conditions will continue to be monitored, and additional updates will be released as needed. Residents were encouraged to limit travel, use caution on roadways, and stay informed through official state communication channels as the winter storm persists.
