Arkansas leads nation in GDP growth for Q4 2024, achieving 5.1% increase under Governor Sanders’ pro-growth leadership

Arkansas – Arkansas has outpaced the entire nation in economic growth, with the Bureau of Economic Analysis reporting a 5.1% annualized growth in the state’s GDP for the fourth quarter of 2024. This achievement marks the second consecutive quarter in which Arkansas has led the country in economic expansion, a notable milestone for the state under the leadership of Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The Governor’s pro-growth policies, which include tax cuts, workforce development initiatives, and significant investments in education, have played a central role in Arkansas’ economic success. Governor Sanders hailed the achievement, emphasizing that the state’s robust economic performance is a direct result of conservative, commonsense reforms aimed at creating a more favorable environment for businesses and workers alike.

“Yesterday’s news confirms what Arkansans already know: pro-growth policies make a difference,” said Governor Sanders. “Arkansas has led the nation on commonsense, conservative economic reforms like cutting taxes, investing in education, and growing our workforce. Our economy is stronger than ever before, and we are making the Natural State one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.”

The Bureau of Economic Analysis’ report highlighted Arkansas’ 5.1% GDP growth in the final quarter of 2024, surpassing all other U.S. states. This growth is a reflection of the strong economic momentum in the state, particularly as Governor Sanders’ administration has implemented several key reforms designed to boost the economy and create jobs.

In addition to leading the nation in GDP growth, Arkansas has seen record-high employment figures. The Arkansas Department of Commerce announced that the state now boasts more working individuals than ever before, a reflection of the continued success of policies like the Arkansas LAUNCH program, which connects job seekers with skilled positions, and the state’s commitment to job training and workforce development.

Secretary of Commerce Hugh McDonald also praised the state’s economic achievements, stating, “This growth is the result of smart, commonsense public policy under the Sanders administration that is focused on delivering low costs and taxes, cutting red tape, and supporting businesses in Arkansas.”

Governor Sanders has also implemented tax cuts that have saved Arkansas taxpayers over half a billion dollars in 2024 alone. One of her recent initiatives, the Grocery Tax Relief Act, aims to repeal the state’s grocery tax, returning nearly $10.9 million to Arkansas taxpayers annually.

The Governor’s focus on education reform through initiatives like Arkansas LEARNS and Arkansas ACCESS further strengthens the state’s economic future. These efforts aim to improve K-12 education and higher education opportunities, ensuring that Arkansas’ workforce is well-equipped to meet the demands of a growing economy.

With these combined efforts, Arkansas continues to build significant economic momentum, positioning the state for continued success in the years ahead.
