Arkansas deploys emergency team to assist Texas flood response

Arkansas -In response to the widespread flooding impacting communities across Texas, the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) deployed a two-person specialized team early this morning to support emergency efforts in the state’s capital.

The deployment comes at the request of the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), a national mutual aid system that allows states to share resources during disasters.

“EMAC is a remarkable tool that allows states to send and receive needed resources during a disaster,” said ADEM Director AJ Gary. “Emergency response knows no borders, and we are dedicated to working alongside Texas to provide the necessary assistance and resources.”

The Arkansas team will be stationed at the State Emergency Operations Center (SOC) in Austin, where they will assist with resource tracking, documentation, situational awareness, and operational reporting. In addition to logistical support, they will act as liaisons between Texas and other assisting states to ensure clear and effective coordination.

The initial deployment is scheduled for eight days, with team members working 12-hour shifts alongside state and federal partners. Depending on the severity and progression of the flood response, the mission may be extended.

ADEM, Arkansas’s lead agency for homeland security and emergency preparedness, continues to monitor the situation and stands ready to provide additional support as needed. For more information, contact ADEM at (501) 683-6700 or visit www.adem.arkansas.gov.
