Arkansas and Tennessee state police team up for I-40 crime enforcement operation

Arkansas – Over the weekend of July 11–13, Arkansas State Police (ASP) and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) joined forces for a targeted enforcement effort along the Interstate 40 corridor, focusing on violent crime, impaired driving, drug trafficking, illegal firearms, and other criminal activity.

Troopers from both states conducted a two-night saturation patrol, making contact with more than 500 motorists. The operation was designed to enhance public safety, remove dangerous offenders from the roads, and foster stronger partnerships between the two agencies.

According to ASP Colonel Mike Hagar, the collaboration reflects the professionalism and commitment of both law enforcement bodies.

“By working together, we not only removed dangerous individuals from our roadways but also strengthened the relationships between our agencies,” Hagar said. “I am extremely proud of our personnel and look forward to continued collaboration in the future.”

The operation yielded significant results.

Arkansas troopers made multiple arrests for speeding and driving while intoxicated, issued numerous citations and warnings, and recorded dozens of criminal arrests.

They also recovered a stolen trailer and seized illegal substances including fentanyl, ecstasy, and marijuana, as well as unlawfully possessed firearms.

Meanwhile, Tennessee troopers made arrests related to DUI, drug possession, evading law enforcement, and illegal firearm activity. They also recovered a stolen vehicle and encountered individuals in possession of burglary tools and with suspended or revoked licenses.

Authorities say the operation was successful in disrupting criminal activity along a major transportation route and reaffirmed the importance of regional cooperation in public safety enforcement.
