Arkansas – According to the ARDOT officials, construction crews will implement multiple overnight highway and frontage road closures as part of the ongoing project to widen Highway 67/167 (Interstate 57) to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) announced that the work will require full closures of the highway and adjacent frontage roads between North James Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in 15-minute increments on two separate nights:
-
Sunday, June 29, from 8 p.m. to Monday, June 30, at 6 a.m. – Weather permitting, all northbound lanes of Highway 67/167 and TP White Drive will experience intermittent full closures.
-
Tuesday, July 8, from 8 p.m. to Wednesday, July 9, at 6 a.m. – Weather permitting, crews will implement intermittent closures on southbound lanes of Highway 67/167 and John Harden Drive.
The closures, occurring simultaneously on both the highway and frontage roads, will allow crews to perform essential bridge work.
In addition to the short-term full closures, motorists should expect overnight lane reductions to one lane in each direction on Highway 67/167 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. during the following periods:
-
Friday night, June 27, through Wednesday morning, July 2
-
Monday night, July 7, through Friday morning, July 18
Traffic control will be assisted by law enforcement, message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage. ARDOT urges drivers to plan for extended delays, exercise caution in the work zone, and remain alert for slow-moving traffic and workers near the roadway.
The widening project is part of a larger initiative to improve traffic flow and safety on one of central Arkansas’s busiest corridors.
