Little Rock, Arkansas – Following an argument with an east Arkansas sheriff in a remote beanfield the previous day, a 66-year-old man was charged on Wednesday with first-degree violence on a law enforcement official, according to authorities.
Woodruff County Sheriff Phil Reynolds and Joseph Rudick got into a physical argument Tuesday night when the sheriff arrived to help put out a combine fire, according to state police.
According to state investigators, the event happened in a beanfield close to 3 Forks Road in Woodruff County at around 6:30 p.m.
The 57-year-old sheriff of McCrory, according to state police, took Rudick to jail before calling them for help.
According to investigators, both males were taken to Unity Health Medical Center in Searcy for medical care.
Though police stated they would provide additional information when it became available, there was no word on what precipitated the altercation.
The event is being looked into by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Arkansas State Police at the request of the Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office.
