Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Visitors to Pine Bluff will be able to examine the significance of democracy in the American experience through an upcoming exhibit.
“Voice and Votes: Democracy in America” will open on Oct. 27 at the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas. The exhibition was made possible through the Arkansas Humanities Council, an Arkansas non-profit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and its partnership with the Smithsonian Institution and its Museum on Main Street program.
The goal of “Voices” is to examine American constitutional democracy over time. Along with historical relics such voter mementos, campaign signs, and protest materials, the exhibit also features archival and instructive videos with interactive multimedia.
“This exhibit is reconnecting Arkansans of all ages to the American values that we hold dear,” Arkansas Humanities Council Executive Director Jama Best said. “As our nation enters a critical juncture, it becomes increasingly essential for every resident of Arkansas to engage with this exhibition.”
From Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the exhibition will be open until December 8. It is free to enter.
The fifth location of the exhibit in the state is Pine Bluff. Magnolia will have one more stop between December 15 and January 28, 2024.
