Bridge is still shut down as ArDOT addresses “structural issues”

Izard County, Arkansas – A bridge in Izard County that has been closed due to “structural difficulties” is expected to be closed for a few more weeks while highway personnel works to make repairs.

On November 22, the Arkansas Department of Transportation informed the public that the Highway 56 bridge in Izard County, which connects Ash Flat and Franklin, was closed for repairs.

“This bridge is being closed due to structural issues that were found during a routine inspection,” ArDOT stated in a news release.

ArDOT said on Friday, December 2, that repairs are currently being carried out, and the duration of the work is anticipated to be around two weeks, barring any delays caused by adverse weather or other unforeseen situations.

Drivers will be required to take an alternate route around the area.
