Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department announced that a temporary street closure will affect the area near 1218 South 74th Street as OG&E crews replace a light pole.
According to the department, the closure will begin at 5 p.m. on Aug. 17 and remain in effect until 3 a.m. on Aug. 18.
Officials said the closure is necessary to allow OG&E crews to safely complete the replacement work.
Motorists will still have access to an alternate route from Euper Lane to 66th Street and from 66th Street to Free Ferry Road.
The department said flaggers and traffic signs will be in place to help direct drivers through the area.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, use caution and expect temporary traffic disruptions while work is underway.
The Fort Smith Police Department also reminded residents that information about current and upcoming street closures is available on the department’s website.
