Fort Smith, Ark. – An additional suspect has been arrested in connection with a homicide investigation stemming from a fatal incident in Fort Smith earlier this week, while a second suspect remains at large, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.
Police said the investigation began after a homicide reported on Tuesday, July 7, in the 5300 block of Elm Street. As detectives continued their investigation, they identified Donny Warner as a suspect and obtained warrants charging him with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.
With assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, Warner was located in LeFlore County, Oklahoma, and taken into custody. Authorities said he was transported to the LeFlore County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Arkansas.
Investigators said Jasmine Ashanti Johnston remains wanted on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery. Police warned that Johnston should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Fort Smith Police Department urged anyone with information about Johnston’s whereabouts not to approach her and instead call 911 or contact the department directly.
Police thanked members of the public for providing tips and investigative leads that assisted in the case. The department also recognized the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office, Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Panama Police Department, Arkansas State Police, and the District 16 Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force in LeFlore County for their assistance during the investigation.
The homicide investigation remains active, and Fort Smith Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available and as the investigation allows.
