Fort Smith, Ark. – Officers with the Fort Smith Police Department spent time with local children and families this week by participating in a Storytime event at the Fort Smith Public Library, continuing the department’s efforts to build positive relationships within the community.
According to the department, Officers Shoptaw and Williams joined families on Tuesday for Storytime with the Fort Smith Police Department, where they shared stories and interacted with young readers.
The event gave children an opportunity to meet police officers in a welcoming setting while enjoying books and activities at the library.
The Fort Smith Police Department said the program is part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening connections with children and families through community engagement.
Officials thanked everyone who attended the event, saying they enjoyed seeing so many smiling faces and appreciated the opportunity to spend time with local families.
The department added that it looks forward to participating in future Storytime events as it continues working to foster trust, encourage positive interactions, and support the Fort Smith community beyond traditional law enforcement duties.
