Arkansas State Police investigate after juvenile injured in case involving multiple child endangerment charges, 39-year-old man taken into custody

Arkansas – Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division, along with investigators from the HuntsviIIe Police Department, are investigating a shooting that injured a 15-year-old male Tuesday night in Huntsville.

According to authorities, the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on May 12, 2026, at a residence in HuntsviIIe. Troopers with Arkansas State Police, deputies with the Maddison County Sheriff’s Office, and HuntsviIIe police officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found the juvenile suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Arkansas authorities said officers immediately provided medical aid before the teen was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators arrested 39-year-old Roy Leon Bumstead of Huntsville in connection with the incident.

He is currently being held at the Caroll County Detention Center on charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
