Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department arrested a man Monday following a theft of services investigation in the 3100 block of Phoenix Avenue.
According to FSPD, officers responded May 11 after utility workers reported discovering extension cords running between two residences that were allegedly being used to unlawfully obtain electricity.
Police said the property owner arrived at the scene and told officers neither residence had a valid lease agreement in place. The owner then granted officers permission to enter and clear both structures.
While clearing one of the residences, officers located 36-year-old Aaron Young, who police said had multiple active warrants, including one out of Crawford County with a $100,000 bond.
Young was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center. In addition to the outstanding warrants, he was booked on an additional charge of theft of services, according to FSPD.
