Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department provided an update Wednesday regarding a shooting investigation in the 3600 block of Park Avenue.
According to police, officers responded during the early morning hours of May 13 after receiving a call from a person inside the residence reporting that someone had been shot.
Previous information released by investigators stated the incident was being handled as a death investigation.
Police later confirmed the victim was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
Investigators said the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident, and all involved parties have been accounted for.
Officials also stated there is no threat to the public at this time.
The investigation remains active, and additional information may be released as it becomes available and appropriate, according to the department.
