City of Fort Smith celebrates Arbor Day with tree planting at Creekmore Park

Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith marked Arbor Day this week with a community event at Creekmore Park, where two new trees were planted to celebrate the occasion.

One of the trees, a Weeping Tamukeyama, was planted inside the Creekmore Park Miniature Golf Course as part of efforts to enhance the park’s landscape.

City officials said the planting highlighted the importance of preserving and expanding green spaces within the community.

During the event, Mayor George McGill read an Arbor Day proclamation recognizing the role trees play in strengthening and beautifying the city.

The proclamation also emphasized the environmental and community benefits trees provide.

City officials said the celebration served as a reminder of the importance of maintaining Fort Smith’s natural resources while continuing to invest in public spaces.
