Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith announced it will host its annual Spring Clean Up event, giving residents an opportunity to dispose of household items over two weekends in April.
The clean up is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, and Saturday, April 25, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day. Multiple drop-off locations will be available across the city to accommodate residents in different wards.
On April 18, services will be offered at Ward 1, located at 3900 Grand Avenue, while Ward 2 at 5100 Plum Street and Ward 3 at 6015 Boys Club Lane will also serve as drop-off sites. On April 25, Ward 4 at 8800 South Dallas Street will host the event.
Special services will be available on select days. Document shredding and electronics recycling, also known as e-waste drop-off, will be offered on April 18 at the Ward 1 location and again on April 25 at the Ward 4 site.
City officials said the event is limited to Fort Smith residents, and participants will be required to provide proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill. Trailers and commercial vehicles will not be permitted.
Residents will be allowed to dispose of regular household trash, furniture, and appliances. However, several items will not be accepted, including liquid paint, vehicle batteries, vehicle fluids, tires, and yard waste.
Officials noted that certain restricted items can still be disposed of through other local services. Liquid paint, batteries, and fluids may be taken to the city’s landfill drop-off center, while tires can be brought to Westark Collection in Van Buren for proper disposal.
The annual event is aimed at helping residents safely remove unwanted items while supporting community cleanliness efforts across Fort Smith.
