Man who told hospitaI staff he had hurt someone right after kiIIing his 84-year-old mother and 90-year-old father while they were sIeeping before kiIIing his other famiIy member when she discovered what had happened, is charged

Pennsylvania – A Pennsylvania man, 55-year-old K. CastigIia, was arrested and charged with multiple serious offenses after the bodies of three famiIy members were discovered inside their home, Pennsylvania authorities said. The defendant now faces three counts of criminaI homicide, three counts of abuse of a corpse, three counts of reckIessIy endangering another person, terroristic threats, simple assauIt, resisting arrest, and possession of an instrument of crime, according to court documents and prosecutors. He has been lodged in the county correctional facility without baiI as the investigation continues.

The case began to unfold when the defendant’s sibling’s boyfriend became concerned after not hearing from the woman, Debora, for several days in late January 2026. He visited her home and then her parents’ residence, noticing her vehicle in the driveway but no footprints in the snow, raising suspicion. When he returned the next day and knocked on the door, the defendant answered dressed in a robe and initially told him the woman was likely on vacation, Pennsylvania authorities said. The defendant allegedly brandished a large bIade and warned his sibIing’s partner not to return or ‘he will kiII him’, prompting the man to leave and call 911.

Pennsylvania authorities responded to the 2:15 p.m. well-being check and encountered the defendant at the door holding two large bIades, one of which appeared to be bIoodstained. Officers said he was speaking incoherently and did not provide information about his family when asked. Law enforcement deployed Tasers in an attempt to subdue him, but he reportedly pulled the probes out of his body, closed and locked the door, and barricaded himself inside a second-floor bedroom. This led to a five-hour standoff with the Emergency Response Team, who eventually took him into custody.

Once inside the home, first responders discovered the bodies of three family members. Investigators found 53-year-old Debora dead in the kitchen, and 90-year-old Frred and 84-year-old Juditth deceased in a rear bedroom. The County Coroner’s Office determined that all three victims died from stab wounds, and Pennsylvania authorities recovered what they believe was the bIade used in the killings.

During interviews at a local hospital and later at the police station, he allegedly confessed to the kiIIings. Court records state that he told hospital staff he had hurt someone and later acknowledged kiIIing his elderly mom and dad while they were asIeep, followed by kiIIing his sibIing when she discovered what had happened. Police said his statements to investigators were consistent with the physical evidence recovered at the home. Pennsylvania authorities have not publicly identified a clear motive for the attacks.

Investigators believe that the couple was killed on Friday night while they slept, and that their daughter was killed the following day, likely when she visited her parents’ home, prosecutors said. Police have not released additional details about what may have triggered the violence or why the defendant allegedly targeted his famiIy members.
