Fort Smith Police Department supports 2026 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Arkansas

Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department is showing its support for Special Olympics Arkansas by promoting participation in the 2026 Fort Smith Polar Plunge, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, at Creekmore Park Pool.

The annual event invites community members to brave the cold waters in support of Special Olympics athletes across the state.

Organizers emphasize that participation goes beyond taking the plunge, noting that cheering from the sidelines or contributing through donations also plays a vital role in supporting the cause.

Registration for the event will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by awards at 10:30 a.m. The official plunge is set for 11:00 a.m. at the Creekmore Park Pool in Fort Smith.

Proceeds from the Polar Plunge benefit Special Olympics Arkansas, helping provide year-round sports training and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The Fort Smith Police Department has long been an active supporter of Special Olympics initiatives, viewing the event as another way to strengthen community connections while advocating for inclusion and opportunity.

Community members interested in participating or donating can find additional information through Special Olympics Arkansas.
