Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department shared an update on December 19 after K9 Ajax was injured during a training exercise earlier in the week and required surgery.
According to the department, Ajax’s handler, Officer Gwin, said the surgery went well and the K9 is now recovering at home.
Ajax returned home Wednesday afternoon and is expected to make a full recovery and return to duty.
Police thanked East Side Animal Clinic for quickly providing X-rays and Greenwood’s South County Animal Hospital surgery team for their work during the procedure.
The department also asked the community to keep K9 Ajax in their thoughts as he continues his recovery.
