Arkansas – At the request of the Pine Bluff Police Department, the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division began investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Friday, November 21, 2025, resulting in the death of a Pine Bluff man.
According to the department, Pine Bluff officers attempted a traffic stop on West 27th Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. When the vehicle came to a stop, a man with a firearm exited and fled on foot. Officers fired during the incident, striking the suspect, who was later identified as 23-year-old Jeremy Lawrence Jr. He collapsed in a yard on 28th Avenue and was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Two additional occupants of the vehicle were detained by Pine Bluff officers. No law enforcement personnel were injured.
The deceased will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an official determination of cause and manner of death. Arkansas State Police investigators will submit a file to the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office, which will review whether the use of deadly force aligned with Arkansas law.
The investigation remained ongoing.
