Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith announced changes to its solid waste and landfill operations in observance of Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 27.
All Solid Waste Services and the Fort Smith Landfill will be closed for the holiday.
Residential collection normally scheduled for Thursday was moved to Wednesday, November 26, and the City reminded residents to have carts placed at the curb by 7 a.m.
For Friday, November 28, the City released an updated schedule. The landfill was set to open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., residential collection was scheduled to run as normal, and commercial and industrial services would operate on a limited basis. Solid Waste offices would remain closed.
City officials thanked residents for their cooperation and extended wishes for a safe and enjoyable holiday.
