Fort Smith Fire Department reschedules Fill the Boot fundraiser to Oct. 24-25

Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Fire Department announced that its annual Fill the Boot fundraiser has been rescheduled for Oct. 24–25 due to the possibility of inclement weather.

Firefighters will still collect donations at the same intersections originally planned.

The Fill the Boot campaign benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), supporting research, care, and advocacy for people living with neuromuscular diseases.

Those unable to donate in person can still contribute online.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the partnership between the MDA and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).

Since the program began in 1954, firefighters across the country have raised more than $700 million for the cause, making the IAFF the top fundraising partner in MDA history.

The Fort Smith Fire Department joins departments nationwide in continuing this long-standing tradition of service and community support.
