Ohio – An Ohio woman was ordered to spend the next decade in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of unIawfuI se-ual contact with a minor and two counts of se-ual battery. The charges stemmed from her se-ual relationship with a 15-year-oId boy who had been placed in her legal custody.
During her sentencing, prosecutors reported that the defendant, 32-year-old Britany, minimized her actions and attempted to bIame the victim, a behavior that drew criticism from both Ohio authorities and members of the community.
The investigation began after the juvenile disclosed the abuse to law enforcement. Ohio authorities opened an active investigation, interviewing the victim, witnesses, and the defendant herself. According to the County Prosecutor’s Office, investigators gathered significant evidence, including text messages exchanged between the defendant and the minor, which corroborated the victim’s account of ongoing se-ual abuse. DNA evidence further confirmed that se-ual contact had occurred, strengthening the case against the woman.
After her initial arrest, she was released on bond with strict conditions that prohibited any contact with the juveniIe. However, prosecutors later discovered that she had violated these conditions. The defendant reportedly traveled to retrieve the minor and hid him in her home, placing the child back into her care despite the court order.
This violation led to additional scrutiny from authorities and further reinforced the seriousness of her actions. Witness accounts and law enforcement reports indicate that the defendant’s attempts to conceal the juvenile’s whereabouts demonstrated a deliberate effort to avoid accountability.
Throughout the legal proceedings, her statements to investigators and in court reflected an attempt to minimize the severity of her crimes. During her sentencing, she reportedly suggested that the victim bore some responsibility for the offenses, a claim rejected by the prosecution.
Prosecutors emphasized that the juvenile had been under her legal care and that she had a duty to protect him. Her efforts to deflect blame were described as attempts to avoid full accountability and were highlighted in court as aggravating factors during sentencing.
