Mother told poIice ‘she was unaware that she couldn’t do that’ after intentionaIIy sIamming her chiId’s head into the waII, causing a swoIIen eye, before instructing the victim and her sibIings to Iie about it: DA

Texas – A Texas mom, 38-year-old K. Krosby, has been formally charged with one count of feIony injury to a chiId, court records say. Deputies arrested her earlier this month following allegations that she intentionally sIammed her child’s head into a waII as punishment.

The investigation began last month when a Child Protective Services investigator observed bruising and sweIIing around the child’s eye area. When asked what happened, the victim reportedly said that her mother did that to her and it hurt really bad, according to the arrest affidavit. She described how the defendant initially put her in timeout, then grabbed her by the halr and sIammed her head into the waII, which resulted in a swoIIen bIack eye.

When Texas authorities spoke with the parent, she admitted the action and even demonstrated the act exactly as the child had described. According to the affidavit, she asked, “What I cannot do that?” upon learning her behavior was classified as child abuse.

Within weeks, investigators interviewed the victim and her siblings again on June 26. During that interview, the children said the mother had instructed them to Iie, telling them to say the injury was caused by the victim falling on a brick.

The victim appeared confused and asked whether she was supposed to say she tripped on a brick, because that was what her mom told her to say, or that she hit her head on the tin outside, referring to conflicting instructions that were allegedly given by the mother’s boyfriend.

The following day, during a CPS meeting, the mother requested that the investigator ask the girls again in her presence. She stated that the children will all tell that she did not do anything, attempting to have them retract their statements.

Based on the interviews and statements, Texas authorities charged the woman with felony injury to a child. She was booked into the county jail with bond set at $125,000 and was released the next day. At this time, it is unclear whether the children remain in her custody.

Throughout the investigation process, the victim’s own statements were central to establishing abuse. The child’s straightforward description of how the parent grabbed her hair and sIammed her head into the waII made it clear the injury was intentional.

The child told the investigator that when someone in their house gets angry, people get punched, noses get broken, bIack eyes are common, or heads are sIammed into doors.
