Highway 148 bridge closed for replacement near Blytheville

Arkansas – The Highway 148 bridge between North County Road 447 and North County Road 471 near Blytheville is now closed around the clock as crews begin work to replace the structure.

The closure began at 8 a.m. Monday, June 23, and will remain in effect through 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, weather permitting.

During the construction period, Highway 148 is open only to local traffic on either side of the bridge. A signed detour is in place to redirect through traffic.

Westbound drivers are being detoured via Highway 148 east to Interstate 55 south, then to Highway 158 west and Highway 181 north. Eastbound traffic is directed to take Highway 148 west to Highway 181 south, then Highway 158 east to Interstate 55 north.

Digital message boards, barricades, construction barrels, and other signage have been deployed to keep motorists informed and ensure safety around the work zone.

Drivers are encouraged to follow detour instructions and plan for potential delays.
