Arkansas State Police arrest 53-year-old man in connection with suspicious death investigation

Arkansas – On June 7, 2025, Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division Special Agents arrested 53-year-old Billy Waldon of Mount Ida following an investigation into a recent suspicious death.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the ASP CID on the same day regarding a missing person case. Upon arrival, Special Agents uncovered evidence suggesting foul play.

Waldon was identified as a suspect and taken into custody. Human remains were discovered near his property in Mount Ida.

He faces multiple charges, including First-Degree Murder, Abuse of a Corpse, Kidnapping, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Refusal to Submit to Arrest, and Fleeing.

Waldon is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

Authorities are transporting the remains to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for positive identification and to determine the cause and manner of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
