Arkansas – The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the death of a Des Arc woman who was found with a gunshot wound at her home on Wednesday night.
On May 7, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Des Arc Police Department responded to a 911 call at a residence in the 300 block of South 15th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 60-year-old Teri Overton suffering from a gunshot wound.
Overton was transported for medical treatment but later died from her injuries. She was officially pronounced dead on Thursday, May 8.
Following the initial response, Des Arc police requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police. The agency’s Criminal Investigation Division is now leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Overton’s death.
Authorities have not released any information regarding potential suspects or whether foul play is suspected. The body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
