Application cycle opens for Arkansas transportation research and workforce development grant

Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation has announced that the next application cycle for the Transportation-Related Research & Workforce Development Grant Program is now open.

The TRRWDGP was established under Act 705 of 2017 and expanded by Act 884 of 2021. The program is designed to support research and workforce initiatives aimed at strengthening Arkansas’s transportation sector.

According to officials, the program can fund projects that fall into one or both of the following categories:

  • Studies of materials and methods that promote resilient and sustainable logistics, processes, and infrastructure, with the goal of enhancing education and economic development in transportation;

  • Industry training, apprenticeships, and educational programs that support the development of transportation-related personnel.

It is important to note that funds from the TRRWDGP cannot be used for highway improvements.

The program is funded by up to $500,000 annually through interest income earned under Arkansas Code § 27-70-204 (2017), derived from the State Highway and Transportation Department Fund.

Interested applicants can obtain project applications online at www.ardot.gov/trrwdgp or request them by email at [email protected].
