Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Communications team took part in Read Across America Week at Woods Elementary School, engaging students with stories that highlighted local history and literacy.
Public Relations Manager Josh Buchfink read *My City is a Fort* by Kathy Watson and Stacy Bates, a book that explores the history and culture of Fort Smith.
During his visit, he also reminded students about the upcoming *My City is a Fort* fort-building competition, scheduled for May 17 at the Chaffee Crossing Food & Artisans Market.
Communications Specialist Carol Price followed with a reading of *Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes,* leaving students excited to continue exploring books.
The event was part of a nationwide initiative to promote literacy and encourage a love for reading among young students.
Woods Elementary welcomed the participation, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in education.
