Arkansas man charged with first-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a minor after he allegedly shot his wife in their family home

Arkansas – The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday afternoon in Rockport.

The investigation began at the request of the Rockport Police Department.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on February 23, 2025, Rockport police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1700 block of Division Street.

Upon arrival, they found 50-year-old Marisela McHan deceased inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim’s husband, 51-year-old Floyd McHan, was taken into custody and transported to the Hot Spring County Detention Center.

He has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Authorities stated that the deceased will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the official cause and manner of death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
