FORT SMITH – The first quarter of the Round of 16 in the Greatest All-Time Athlete from the Fort Smith Area has been completed.
Four athletes won their respective polls in the 32-person third round and will move on to the regional round.
They are Ron Brewer, Tyler Wilson, Brett Goode and Ty Storey, each representing Region I in the tournament. Those athletes won their third-round polls which were tabulated on both the Times Record’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
Brewer, the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, actually lost the Twitter poll to his opponent, Bryant “Big Country” Reeves. Reeves got 50.8 percent of the vote compared to Brewer’s 49.2.
However, Brewer advances because he won the Facebook poll with a higher percentage of votes.
On the Facebook poll, the former Northside and University of Arkansas basketball standout got 86 percent of the votes compared to 14 for Reeves, the former Gans and Oklahoma State basketball standout.
